
Collin Affleck
Sensei (Head Instructor)
Collin Affleck began his karate journey in 1990 and has dedicated more than three decades to the art. Over his competitive career, he achieved numerous personal milestones, including National silver and bronze medals at the Canadian Masters level, multiple Atlantic gold medals, and the honor of competing on the world stage.
While Collin values his accomplishments as an athlete, he is most proud of the success of the many students he has coached over the past 25 years. His athletes have earned provincial, regional, and national titles, and he has guided competitors representing Prince Edward Island at the highest levels of Canadian karate.
Collin currently serves as the Karate PEI Head Coach, bringing over 25 years of coaching experience at the provincial, national, and international levels. He became Head Instructor of Charlottetown Martial Arts in 2016 and is the fifth instructor to volunteer in leading the dojo during its 55-year history.
Collin’s passion lies in helping students become the best versions of themselves through the principles of peace, perseverance, and hard work.

Lori Beck
Sensei
Lori Beck began training karate in 1999 and has developed a strong foundation built on dedication, perseverance, and lifelong learning. She earned her 1st Degree Black Belt (Shodan) after eight years of training and later achieved her 2nd Degree (Nidan). In 2025 Lori successfully tested for her Junior Instructor (Jun Shidoin), Marking an important milestone in her martial arts journey. Lori has been an instructor for over 18 years and enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels. She is committed to helping students develop confidence, discipline, and respect through traditional karate training. Lori has competed at National Chito-Ryu tournaments in New Brunswick and Ontario and continues to actively support the growth of the Charlottetown Martial Arts community

Clark Upton
Sensei
Clark began his martial arts journey in Chito-Ryu Karate in 2008 and currently holds the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt (Nidan). Since entering the competitive arena in 2011, he has demonstrated excellence in both kata and kumite. Focusing his career on kata, Clark has trained under world champions and elite international athletes, refining his technique at the highest level. He has competed nationally and internationally, earning recognition for his dedication, discipline, and technical precision.
